A Tale of two Penalties

Bashley 1 Baffins Milton Rovers 1 (Baffins win 4-3 on penalties)
Wessex League Cup

This game was marred by the anti-respect behaviour of a Baffin’s player who was red carded during the interval. The game lacked cup-tie excitement and produced a stalemate result as Bashley’s consistent attacks through the middle and down the flanks were nullified by an extremely well drilled and hard tackling Baffins defence.

The visitors opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Tyler Morley took advantage of a hesitant Bashley defence and the score was levelled just before halftime when Lewis Ross converted from the spot after Harry Morgan was upended.

The second half started with Baffins down to 10 men and Bashley one again failed to break the packed Baffins defence. Goal scorer Lewis Ross strode up to take the first penalty of the shoot out and blazed over the bar, there were no further misses until Bash failed again with the fifth leaving Baffins winners 4 to 3.

Positives for Bashley being a crowd of 165 and the re-appearance of Lewis Aimson after a long-lay-off.
