Ross has final say in local clash

October 30th, 2019|

Bashley 2 Lymington 1 Wessex Premier This highly anticipated local derby had the crowd on their toes from the off with Bashley captain, Brad Morris, laying down the gauntlet when sending a shot of some venom just short of the bar. After arriving late to an early corner. The battle lines were drawn when Lymington reacted immediately by rattling the bar at the other end. Minutes later Conor Whitley was brought down in the box, but his appeal was waved away. The impasse was broken after twenty minutes when a Harry Bunce cross into the Lymington area became the [...]

Tadley Harried in the Rain

October 27th, 2019|

Bashley 3 Tadley Calleva 1 Wessex Premier The continuous rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of the two Harrys, McGrath and Bunce, who found the net three times in conditions more suitable for growing rice. Bashley, with the influential Jack Smith and Conor Whitely returned from suspension, and new signing Dan Kempson playing his first game for the black and golds, kicked off facing the elements. They made their intent clear from the start with a series of long-range attempts from the boot of Conor Whiteley that tested both keeper and goalframe. It was McGrath, however, who found [...]

Bashley U18s Leave it Late

October 27th, 2019|

Fleet 4 Bashley 4 (Bashley win 6-5 on penalties) Hampshire FA Sunday U18's Cup (Round Two) After a 63-mile trip it took young Bash a while to settle and they were two goals down as the half drew to a close. Then, in the final two minutes remaining, Bashley made sure of a pleasant halftime with goals from Joe Pigott and Dam Eames. The visitors then went ahead four minutes from the re-start thanks to a cracking goal from Harry Bailey only to see Fleet equalise from the spot a later to score again and take the lead. The [...]

Not Quite good Enough

October 21st, 2019|

Portland Utd 2 Bashley 1 Wessex Premier A welcome return of the sun but a depleted Bashley were not quite good enough on the day. Suspensions and injuries did little to hinder Bashley’s thrust and endeavour, but the balance shown in previous games was lacking with key personnel missing. Portland dominated from the off and their strength and speed was an immediate problem. Bashley’s first attack was instigated by the diminutive Harry Bunce, whose terrier-like tactics caused problems for the hosts throughout the match; his forward pass to Ollie Smith was a defence breaker but the finish was not [...]

Four Day Double for Bashley

October 9th, 2019|

Bashley 3 AFC Stoneham 0 Southampton Senior Cup Bashley completed a laudable double over high-flying AFC Stoneham by following up Saturday’s 3-2 league win with a midweek Groundhog Day, this time by three clear goals. Both teams put out strong sides for this cup encounter and it was the visitors who struck first with a header just past the post; quick retaliation by Bashley was foiled when keeper Matt Fredericks blocked a Conor Whiteley shot. Whiteley was also on hand to set up Bashley’s opener; his cross into to the box was half-cleared and picked up by Ollie Smith [...]

A Ross Double sees Bashley Home

October 7th, 2019|

Bashley 3 AFC Stoneham 2 Wessex Premier Bashley, without the injured Jason Collins and Morgan Browning, gave first team starts to goalkeeper Harry Gravett and Centre Back Matt Crowe with the last season’s top scorer Dan Munday, now residing in the Midlands, making a surprise first appearance on the bench. The opening minutes were scrappy with both teams lacking purpose; this all changed in the thirtieth minute when a forward movement by Bashley came to a full stop with the ball loose in the box when, as if teleported, midfielder Lewis Ross strode through a hesitant Stoneham defence and [...]
